A community organizer and ER nurse turned progressive, Democratic candidate seeks a Campaign Manager for a primary state senate campaign in the Houston area, position runs through March 1, 2021 with the possibility of extension to the general election.
Ideal candidate for Campaign Manager will have a high capacity for self management and be able to multitask – ensuring the candidate is using their time efficiently, managing volunteer activities, collaborating with mail and media vendors, supporting fundraising (likely with a finance manager) and performing press relations as needed. The Campaign Manager should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment doing rigorous and rewarding work.
Job Description
The Campaign Manager will take on the following responsibilities:
Candidate: Manage the candidate's time so it is used the most efficiently for voter contact, fundraising, endorsements, and community events.
Campaign Plan: Implement a successful campaign plan that outlines the campaign or campaigns' efforts through primary, including fundraising, canvassing, phoning, volunteer recruitment, district outreach, and social media.
Field: Implement a field plan that involves a mix of volunteer canvassers and community outreach. The Campaign Manager will recruit, coach, and manage volunteers for the field with a high volunteer retention rate. Ideal candidates should be comfortable delegating tasks.
Press & Media: Serve as the campaign contact for media. Coordinate messaging, press releases, and prepare candidates for press opportunities. Manage and update social media presence.
Qualifications and Compensation
- 2 or more cycles of campaign experience
- Experience working on campaigns with budgets between 350 - 750k
- Field experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent conflict resolution skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to multitask
- Licensed and insured driver,
- Negotiations starting at 3.5K monthly, with housing option and health insurance reimbursement
